diy hair pompoms

Happy Monday — it’s a DIY type of day!  Today, we’re tackling homemade hair accessories.  I showed you a couple of days ago the plan for the wedding hair — now here’s what’s going in it.  If you wanna make these little guys, you’ll need bobby pins, fabric, scissors, needle & thread, felt, and a glue gun.

Start by cutting out irregular flower shapes from your fabric, about the size of your palm.  For each pompom, you’ll need about 8 or 10 flowers.  I used two different fabrics – a lace and a sheer.

Take one flower, fold in half, then in half again.  Thread your needle and knot the end, and sew through the bottom corner of your folded flower.  Repeat with the rest of your flowers, stringing them onto the same thread until your pompom reaches the fullness that you’d like.  Then tie a knot and snip off your thread.

Next, cut two small circles of felt, slightly larger than a quarter.  Hot glue your pompom onto one circle of felt.  On the back of the felt, sink a bobby pin into a large dollop of hot glue.  Then finish it with another circle of felt to hide the glue.

Surprise!  You’re done.  Let it dry, then pop it in your hair.  I made myself three of these little guys, so that I can decide how full I’d like it to look on the big day.  A girl’s gotta have options, you know.  Next time you see these, it’ll be in my wedding photos.  Love that.  xoxo
